I have 5 children and have lost weight relatively quickly after the first 2 births. I gained alot of weight after my third son that didn't start coming off for about two years, and it was about that time that I became pregnant with my daughter. I didn't gain as much with her but I was still carrying around a few extra pounds from the birth of my third son. From there it has been a constant struggle. I became pregnant again a little over a year after the birth of my daughter and now the weight is really hard to take off.
My eating habits play a big factor. It is not the quantity of food I eat, but rather my eating schedule that is working against me. I am not hungry when I wake up in the morning. I don't usually eat lunch either. I rarely eat anything but small snacks throughout the day, if I eat anything at all. I am hungry by dinnertime. I eat a sensible portion for dinner, but after I get the kids in bed is where the problem starts. I usually sit down to watch a movie and start snacking. I'm usually up til midnight and then go to sleep. I'm not burning any of those calories I'm eating every night.
I despise any form of exercise except Pilates. After a long day of chasing kids around and cleaning, I'm beat and ready to relax though, so I rarely do it.
I read about Beyonce losing the weight with the Master Cleanse or Lemonade Diet, and decided to try it. This diet requires you to not eat anything at all for a minimum of ten days. I made it three days and then pigged out. I did feel better though. I had more energy and my complexion was really clearing up, but I was starving!!! I tried the diet on three more occasions but had the same results. I couldn't make it past three days.
I've done extensive research on the colon cleanse diets, however, and the benefits are truly amazing. When the colon is lined with waste products, the body is not getting the nutrients it needs from the food that is eaten, which results in a loss of energy. This also causes the body to retain toxins. When the body has these excess toxins, they are usually released via the skin pushing them out. The process by which this pushing-out occurs, however, causes problems such as acne, and skin that look aged and weathered. The build-up of toxins in the body also causes dull, lifeless hair and slow growth of hair and fingernails. When this toxic waste build-up in the body is removed, cell regeneration is sped up and therefore, you look and feel more youthful. Besides the weight loss that occurs from the actual removal of the waste inside the colon, the increased efficiency effected by the removal of the toxic waste makes it easier to stay slim and keep weight off.
WebMD states that everyone should do this regularly, just as you would shampoo your hair, you should cleanse your colon regularly. This makes perfect sense to me. Most of us don't eat well. We eat junk food or fast food that isn't particularly good for us. It is logical to assume that the consumption of these foods would leave our insides dirty, and contaminated.
While many of the cleanse diets are very difficult to stick to, I have found a good alternative. There are many supplements on the market now which make cleansing the colon an ongoing, daily process which doesn't require you to diet. I've tried a few, but just didn't get that healthy, energetic feeling that I did when I was doing the Master Cleanse Diet. The last one I tried was ColoPureCleanse. This one just felt different. I started feeling more energetic on the second day of taking the supplements. I'm about 15 days in now and have already lost 10 pounds. My initial motivation for trying these diets was to lose weight, which I am finally starting to do, but I now realize there are so many more benefits to the process. You don't realize how bad you actually felt until the contrast of feeling great comes into your experience. I have had acne since I was 12. My skin has cleared up almost completely. I look younger and my hair has more volume. I was really starting to lose faith that there was any alternative to starving yourself. I'm glad I kept trying. I will keep everyone posted on my progress.
